Sound Therapy Jun 02, 2009
By S. Lively This sound therapy system is GREAT !! It has sounds that actually sound like the real thing, can't hear a stop and start of the sound loop, compact but the On and Off button is big enough you can't miss it in the dark, choice of timer settings, changable sound cards, nice looking, great price, I could go on and on. I would definately recommend this system even if the price was higher.

Should I get a sound card for my system? Sep 21, 2009
By Jose E. Moreno

This system offers 4 sound cards to add to the sounds already in the system. I bought all 4 and I can say that you don't need them. The "other different" sounds are variations of the same sounds in the system. As an example, I was disappointed with the thunderstorm that came with the Wilderness card, since is the same as the rain with a "thunder" sound in the background (probably a guy doing some thunder noise with something)...or the windstorms, wind, ocean breeze...is practically the same sound. The only one different is the one that you get free if you buy it here but they are everyday sounds that recreate the same noises that you would want to block (vacuum cleaner, a/c, airplane, cars, train)...so stick with the basic and don't spend money in the sounds cards. In conclusion, I am happy with the sound system, but very disappointed with the sound cards. You don't need the sound cards, save the money.

Just my opinion Oct 21, 2009

I am very happy with this sound machine. It performs as it should and contrary to some people's opinion, I found that the electrical cord is plenty long enough. It fits perfectly on a small shelf in my bedroom and although I have only used the white noice setting to date. The sound is perfect for sleeping. I no longer have to run a fan all year round. Keep in mind this is not a surround sound stereo system but it does the trick. I would recommend this machine to friends.

Good No-frills Sound Machine for the Price Jan 10, 2010

I was trying to figure out which sound machine to buy for my shorty for christmas and deliberated quite a bit. I eventually chose this machine because it was one of the cheapest, and I wasn't sure if she would like any machine so why not go cheap.
This little guy is all you need, as far as I'm concerned. It's about the size of a hardcover book. Very light and portable. Most of the sounds suck (there is a loud vacuum cleaner sound - who the heck wants to hear that?), but the waves and the rain create good background noise. Does it sound like a real ocean? No, of course not. But I doubt anything does. These two sounds are pleasant and they seem to help shorty sleep. The extra sound card it comes with is worthless, all the sounds are awful. But again, who cares? It's got a few sounds that do the job perfectly, and its the most reasonably priced device out there.
Most negative reviews comment on the lack of battery power. That effectively makes it useless for international travel, unless you travel with a voltage converter. If this is not a concern for you, buy this puppy

loud enough Jun 17, 2009

This is a pretty good noise machine if you are trying to drown out irritating sounds from neighbors in a building or outside sounds. It has 5 or 6 nature sounds but I only use the "white noise" or "rain" sound. The "rain" sound is the loudest. This machine, however, has a couple of issues. I found this machine awkward to use with the AC power cord. With noise machines, the placement of the machine could be critical and , of course, the AC power cord is short, so I have to get an extension. Now it's a big ordeal. Long story, short, I mounted this unit in the best spot possible, near my irritating noise source, and use 4 "AA" batteries to work it. Hopefully, the batteries will last a long time. The thing about this unit is that it has a weird shape, almost hard to hold and even harder to move from place to place, especially with the cord and extension cord. So, for what it's worth, you may find yourself using batteries with this unit because don't we all have enough wires running all over the place? The whole using batteries thing is not a bad thing. Don't get me wrong. By and large, this is a pretty good machine for its purpose. But seriously consider mounting it in a specific spot.
