 Obus Forme Lowback Backrest Support! Jan 10, 2006

I have degenerative disc disease, and am in chronic pain. This back support seat cushion is the finest there is for supporting your back while sitting anywhere. It is odd to find it under auto supplies, when I think it should be under health supplies. I am purchasing my second one for my office. My first one sits at the dining room table always. If I did a lot of driving, I might also use it - however my car seat seems designed for back comfort on its' own. There is no way to explain HOW this forme supports your lower back while sitting, but it does just radiate comfort because of its' shape. I can only say - get one! Carol D.

I have scoliosis(athletic build) so it is extremely important that I am able to position the lumbar support where it is needed or my back will become extremely fatigued. I have previously tried using other coworkers non-adjustable backrests, rolled up fabrics and even stuffed animals with no luck.
I been using this for about a year now and my back experiences no discomfort from the long hours working at the computer. Its high back allows for complete back support.Since the pad is attached with velcro I do not see any reason you couldn't sew additional lumbar supports(or use dog toys, stuffed animals)as needed.
It is very sturdy, possibly sturdy enough to use as a sled(not recommended). But since we get no snow where I work it does not appear I will be able to test my theory out. Though it does repel incoming rubberbands and paper balls extremely well.

I cannot live without this backrest at work Jan 24, 2009

Sounds cliche, but this backrest is worth its weight in gold to me. My back used to get so sore sitting in an office chair all day. Now that I have the backrest my back actually feels BETTER after having sat in my office chair for a while. It's always good to get up and stretch now and then though. If the seat cushion of your chair is not firm enough, I recommend purchasing this backrest along with the Obus Forme seat cushion that helps to keep you in the proper position.
If you're a big person, you may want to consider the wide backrest version. I'm less than 125 pounds, and this particular (smaller) model is fine for me.
It comes with a detachable pillow that can be placed wherever it's most comfortable for lumbar support. It attaches with velcro and could probably eventually fray the seat cover if it's moved around a lot. I don't think that will be a problem for me as I tend to leave it in the same spot most of the time. If the cover wears out, they sell replaceable covers for the backrest, but they're not cheap.

It is amazing that it provides support for my lower back. The adjustable lumbar pillow makes this product unique for everyone. I am a fire protection designer and I often sit for long periods of time. This was a great investment.

I tried for 6 months to use this backrest as support in my carseat. I am now using the carseat again.
It fits nicely around and mostly braced up against the seat well. The support portion was velcro, and neatly arrangeable to wherever was most comfortable for my back. The material is soft and mostly comforting. Unfortunately the steep, round curve of the product pushes my shoulders together too much, and ends up introducing just as many issues as it prevents.
Also, while the adjustable velcro function is nice, If you happen to apply it at the wrong angle, it can take some fidgeting to get it back in a comfortable position. To its credit, the backrest put me at the perfect distance to the pedals, this made my driving experience much better, however, it just doesn't work.
I view this as a waste of my money and will be searching for a new solution. I normally don't miss on pricier products, and I am definitely disappointed in this.
