not worth the money Sep 20, 2007
By S. Wong the skull had was really poorly put together. The glue never set on the cribriform plate, so it was loose. I really just wanted to dissolve all the glue and put it back together myself. Also, some of the foramina weren't present. I think it would have been worth the extra money to get one of the more expensive skulls.

I was disappointed with this model even at this low price point. Oct 12, 2006

I wasn't very impressed with this skull and brain combination. I think the most useful thing about it is that you can relate the different parts of the skull to the major brain structures. I also think the skull is good for showing the bones, sutures and a few major landmarks.
The brain is made of clear soft plastic and the smaller structures are difficult to see. I don't think there is enough detail in the model for pedagogical purposes and that there are better products out there at a similar price point e.g. LWW Budget Brain with Arteries Model C20C sold my a number of Amazon vendors. This model, however, does not include a skull.

Good model for general teaching or reviewing anatomy for clinicians Jan 15, 2010
By Eagle Vision CONSTRUCTION
This 3 part lifesize skull and 8 part brain model is a good model for the purposes of teaching junior physicians the anatomy of the brain and skull base. The mandible articulates with a spring mechanism and is durable The cranial vault can be opened and removed with 2 hinges that work very easily. Small pegs also add stability to the cranium and skull interface.
The brain is composed of a hard rubber which is connected by various pegs. The major anatomic landmarks are well delineated however, the cranial nerves, with the exception of the optic chiasm and the olfactory nerves, are poorly seen.
The skull is comprised of hard plastic and is durable and heavy. The cranium and facial bones delineate the various anatomic sutures, as well as the infra-orbital and mental foramina. The neural foramina all are anatomic; however not all are patent for utilizing pipe cleaners to delineate anatomy.
SUMMARY
Overall, this model is a functional tool for the purposes of reinforcing anatomy. For a medical or college student, there are better alternatives. However, for practicing professionals and middle/high school students, this will suffice. This is also a great teaching tool for physicians/healthcare practitioners to demonstrate anatomy to their patients.
For the price, this is a great value.
